The Mil Mi-24 ""Hind"" helicopter is a famous aircraft designed to address the need for a heavily armed and armored transport helicopter during the Soviet Cold-War. After the Korean War, attention was focused on changing the nature of the battlefield. Helicopters saw large-scale use during the Korean War, highlighting the Soviet Army’s lack of a viable vehicle of the type. If a war were to break out across Europe, the organization of thousands of troops in addition to air and ground support would be required. Although armored vehicle carriers would have sufficed, there were plans of delivering a heavily armed attack helicopter capable of bringing combat-ready personnel into dangerous situations. The Mil Mi-24 remains a flexible battlefield implement until today.
