North American F-107A Ultra Sabre Model Scale:1/40

The F-107 is a single-seat, fighter bomber aircraft built in the 1950s. Based on the design of the F-100 Super Sabre, this aircraft prototype has a very distinctive feature that distinguishes it from its precursor. It has an over-the-fuselage air intake, which enables the plane to carry a semi-conformal nuclear weapon in its underbelly. However, the dorsal location of the air intake limits rear visibility and poses a danger to pilots upon eject. On September 10, 1956, the first F-107 took its initial flight and achieved Mach 1.03. The flight was a successful one despite the fact that the parachute did not deploy. On November 3, 1956, the second F-107 flew; it was used for testing conventional and atomic bombs. The last prototype flew on December 10, 1956 and was scrapped later on in the 1960s. Only three aircraft were built.
