Product Description
The Sea King helicopters made its appearance in the US Navy in the late 1950’s at the onset of the Cold War. The Soviet Union began using submarines during this time, and in response, Sikorsky Aircraft came up with the SH-3, an Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) helicopter as a counter-attack measure. The SH-3 was later on modified for transport duties and was given the name VH-3D Sea King. With its call sign Marine One, the VH-3D transported the President of the United States. By 2011, there are 11 units of VH-3D were used to transport the President and other government VIPs. The SH-3 helicopter is powered by five-bladed rotor, twin turbo shaft engines and is manned by four crews on board, two of them are pilots. The VH-3D Sea King is famously known as the helicopter that transports the US Head of State.
