Product Description
When the US Air Force employed the UH-60A Black Hawks in 1981, it didn’t take long before it began modifying the aircraft. What started out as minor upgrades translated into a refitted air-refueling probe, additional fuel tanks, and new machine guns (from 7.62mm M60s to 12.7mm XM218s). After this first round of modifications, the helicopters were named as the Credible Hawks and entered service in 1987. Soon after entering service, the helicopter was re-designated as the Pave Hawk, which stood for “Precision Avionics Vectoring Equipment” since the helicopter underwent a second round of modifications on its avionics system. Limited funding only saw 16 Credible Hawks modified and re-designated as the HH-60G. Among the upgrades were better communication and navigation suites that include an inertial navigation system, satellite communications, and Have Quick communications. As expected of an aircraft with good systems, the HH-60G was widely employed then and still is today. Among the squads that operate the Pavehawks are the Air Combat Command, the Air Education and Training Command, the Air Force Reserve Command, and the Air National Guard.
